Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD)
The process of removing sulphur compounds from the exhaust emissions of fossil-fueled power plants is known as Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) is accomplished by adding absorbents, which can remove up to 95% of the sulphur dioxide from the flue gas.
Lime is used in a variety of air pollution control applications. Lime is used to remove acidic gases from flue gases, particularly sulphur dioxide (SO2) and hydrogen chloride (HCl). Mercury removal using lime-based technology is also being investigated.
