Ultra post-Panamax cranes are the largest modern container Ship-to-Shore Cranes
Ultra post-Panamax cranes are the largest modern container Ship-to-Shore Cranes
with some having a load capacity of 120 tonnes.

The section of the main boom that hangs above the ship is known as the main boom.

The main boom must be as near to the Ship-to-Shore Cranes maximum stacking height as possible for the spreader to be stable.

This factor may make the berthing of vessels more difficult, which is why the main boom includes a hinge point just above the quay's tip, allowing the ship to be lifted without being restricted by the crane.

Manufacturers supply the market with a wide variety of main booms.

Low-profile Ship-to-Shore Cranes are available with a boom that may either push forward or push in above the vessel deck.

Maximum crane height limits (for example, near airports) and minimal visual impact are ideal for these cranes.

The Ship-to-Shore Cranes is the portion that drives over the main boom.

The spreader and the cabin are both supported by the trolley.

Trolleys must be able to support the hoisting mechanism as well as the mechanism that allows them to ride over the main boom.
