Which Tools are allowed on a Suspended Access Platform?

A suspended access platform is a hanging work platform that is used for construction, restoration, painting, cleaning and other types of work for which people need to work at a great height above the ground. A hanging work platform is a great way to go up and keep your tools close at hand, and raise the workers to the desired height.

It is important to note that these platforms are able to sustain only a specific amount of load, and if the load capacity is exceeded, the platform can break or topple, putting life and limbs at risk. That is why, only tools as light as possible should be taken up. These are some types of tools that can be taken up on this kind of platform.

Screwdrivers

Screwdrivers are small tools that are used to turn screws. They are used to tighten nuts and bolts. Screwdrivers are typically made out of metal.

Hammers

Hammers are used to hit things. Hammers can be made out of various metals. Metal hammers are the strongest and last the longest.

Drilling machine

Electric or battery powered drilling machines can also be taken up on a suspended working platform. These are useful for electrical, plumbing and other work.

Hand Saws

Hand saws are used to cut wood, or make cuts in wood. Hand saws are made out of metals, with the handles made of plastic, metal or wood. Metal saws are the strongest and last for the longest period of time.

Cables

Cables are used to connect different parts of a machine or device together. Cables can be made out of steel, copper etc. There are several different types of cables depending on the application they are being used for.

It is important not to take heavy tools and equipment up above on suspended platforms, and use Chain Hoists instead. Chain hoists are used to lift heavy loads. They are commonly used in factories, warehouses, garages, and workshops. They have two basic types: hydraulic and electric. Hydraulic chain hoists require power to operate whereas electric chain hoists do not need external power. Electric chain hoists are generally preferred over their hydraulic counterparts due to their ease of operation and maintenance.
