San Clemente, CA. September, 2022 – As one of the world’s fastest growing sports, surfing needs no introduction. In fact, to put it simply, since the early 60’s, surfing has become a worldwide phenomenon and has made quite an impact! Surfing has also opened doors to many other extreme sports, as well as the arts. Considering the growth of surfing around the world, Orange County is home to many perfect waves and coastal cities with laid back beach living. One of those cities is San Clemente, an ideal hotspot to hold the KOA FEST. San Clemente is known for developing many great surfers and inspiring local artists. On Saturday, September 17, 2022, The Gray Matter Museum of Art (501c3) in San Clemente is excited to be hosting the KOA FEST from 5pm to 10pm filled with live music and art exhibitions highlighting surf culture and lifestyle.
Koa Fest, will celebrate olympic gold medalist, surf world champion Italo Ferreira, and his best friend photographer Fernando “Mocoto” with a photo exhibition. Live music by Brazil’s DJ Kali, San Clemente’s favorite garage rock band Repeater, and Hawaii’s most popular street performer Connor Johnson. Some of the greatest names in the sport of surfing, past and present, will be appearing. KOA FEST will be spotlighting the history and legends that have turned surfing into what it is today. KOA FEST will also host an art exhibition featuring the legendary Rick Rietiveld.

Not a space too busy to notice our little ones, GMMA is a place that strives to embrace the young artist, the dreamer and the less fortunate.The Gray Matter Museum of Art seeks to fill that void and make a difference in our community by opening the imagination in all of us by being active in bringing artisans at work & play to California, and trigger the Gray Matter in all of us!
