Humanity has had somewhat of a love-hate relationship with bodies of water. Upon the one hand they may be a few of the most dangerous and inhospitable places on the planet, while on the other hand they've provided many uses that contribute to the function of society. One of these uses is through transportation, by which boats and ships are used to transport individuals between bodies of land. The main advantage of this type of transport in the utilisation of modern logistics is it may carry considerable amounts of cargo and individuals simultaneously, rendering it perhaps one of the most efficient types of transport in the world.
