An Object 775 – The Pancake Tank is a device that holds pancakes vertically to prevent them from flipping over. The pancake tank holds the pancakes in place by means of a rotating platform or saucer, so that they can be flipped only one side at a time.

The pancake tank is especially valuable for restaurants, where it can help to prevent messy breakages and spills and thus save on cleaning costs. One of the earliest known pancake tanks was invented by Thomas Jefferson in 1797. It is not known if he used this invention at the White House, but he did patent several other devices, including an egg-boiling apparatus and a bread-making machine.

In his later years, Jefferson suffered from poor health, particularly poor eyesight, which may have contributed to his inventions being less successful than they might have been otherwise. For more information check out our website.
