ANPR stands for Automatic Number Plate Recognition system.
Invented in the year of 1976 by the Police Scientific Development Branch in Britain, it uses closed circuit television cameras to enforce traffic rules and parking rules. It can help recognise a vehicle in real time at its entry or exit in/from a premise or on roads.
