Best Games Released in January

Hitman 3

Hitman 3
  • Publisher: IO Interactive
  • Developer: IO Interactive
  • Genre: Stealth, third-person, shooter, adventure.
  • Rating: Mature
  • Release Date: January 20, 2021

Agent 47 has been one of the most beloved assassins in any game series ever. He has all the skill set required for any type of assassin in any kind of situation. The world of assassination is coming to a bloody end with the Hitman 3. IO Interactive has made a seamless Hitman experience of gameplay that felt consistent, and after ending the game, I was satisfied with how the story unfolded.

The best thing about this game is you have many paths you can complete a mission in many different ways. The gameplay is left to your imagination. The game is not too short, not too long. Control is one of the best third-person shooter games you should not miss this year.

The Medium

The Medium
  • Publisher: Bloober Team
  • Developer: Bloober Team
  • Genre: Puzzle, horror, adventure
  • Rating: Mature
  • Release Date: January 28, 2021

We can say that The Medium could be the most underlooked game of the year so far. But in our eyes, it has one of the most innovative and excellent gameplay we have ever seen in a third-person game. You have to change between two worlds to solve different types of simple and complicated puzzles. The story of this game is the main reason it will grip your attention. Sometimes the game changes to a split-screen showing both the real world and the spirit world. The door might be blocked in one world but opened in the other, so you must carefully explore both worlds. You will enjoy manipulating objects in one world, which will affect the other world based on the action. Medium has grotesque detailed environments.

We will not say that this will be the best game or the best idea of a game you will ever see, but we don’t want you to miss what this game has to offer in the horror genre.

Control

  • Genre: Third-person shooter, action, adventure
  • Rating: Rated-16 Mature
  • Release Date: February 2, 2021 (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S)

This game was released initially in 2019 on PC and received praises for its design and gameplay. The console gamers were eagerly waiting for its release on the PlayStation and Xbox.

Jesse Faden walks into the Headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control. She picks up the Director’s gun, which is not the actual weapon she needs to worry about. She is the key to solving the deception going on.

Remedy Entertainment has put out different horror games, which we can call masterpieces of storytelling. They use kinetic action to tell the stories of their games beautifully with fantastic music and environment. You have to defend yourself against the multidimensional species known as Hiss. It’s very aggressive and trying to invade our world. You are transported into a bizarre world where you have to aid the Bureau to prevent these creatures from entering our world. You will love the gameplay and will enjoy the story of Jesse.

Little Nightmares II

  • Developer: Tarsier Studios, Supermassive Games
  • Genre: Puzzle, platform, survival Horror
  • Rating: Rated-16 Mature
  • Release Date: February 11, 2021

If you have played the first game in his horror series, you will know what you are getting into. If you haven’t, we will suggest that you play the first game as it is one of the best games in the survival horror genre. The environment, music, and gameplay are all built to make players feel scared of every step in a new area you have to explore. The inhabitants of this game are awful, in a good way, of course, but you will enjoy the design of the game structure.

This game is a masterfully executed sequel to an already great game that was Little Nightmares. You will be trying to avoid the sight of the monstrosities present in the game and solve puzzles to escape an area. You will enjoy the journey of Mono and Six in the sequel and will get the much-needed information about Six, the protagonist of the first game.

Best Games Released In March

Marvel’s Avengers

Marvel’s Avengers
  • Publisher: Square Enix, Square Enix Europe
  • Developer: Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montréal, Square Enix Europe, Nixxes Software BV, Crystal Northwest
  • Genre: Single-player, co-op, action, adventure, beat ‘em up
  • Rating: Teen
  • Release Date: March 18, 2021 (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S)

This might not be the best game to compliment the massively successful film series, but Crystal Dynamics has made an excellent role-playing game that any Marvel fan can enjoy playing.

The story follows Kamala, who is a huge fan of the Avenger’s team. She is enjoying the celebratory day of the Avengers. She gets powers after getting involved in an accident during a terrorist attack. The Avengers are blamed for the attack, which results in the disbandment of the team. When the investigating corporation, A.I.M, announced that all the inhuman individuals will be eliminated, Kamala took matters into her own hands to gather the disbanded team members to get together and eliminate the newly formed threat.

You get to play as different Avengers in this game, and the story is decent. It’s not the best, but this will surely tickle your Marvel Fan nerve.

Dirt 5

Dirt 5
  • Publisher: Codemasters, Electronic Arts
  • Developer: Codemasters

  • Rating: Everyone

The Dirt series is considered one of the best racing simulation games in the market. Dirt 5 follows the footsteps of the previous games in the series. If you want to play the no-nonsense racing game, then this game will fulfil your needs.

Whiplash-inducing drifts, muddy ties, and neck-breaking speeds are the things you will experience in Dirt 5. Arcade-style racing enables you to play with more people. You will love the different types of tracks you get, muddy surfaces on which you can be a bit reckless, careful on the tracks that throw ice, and concrete roads where drifting is not that prominent.

Amazing races, a beautiful environment, and tense gameplay will make you love this game.

Best Games Released In April

Outriders

Outriders
  • Publisher: Square Enix
  • Developer: People Can Fly
  • Genre: Third-person, action, role-playing
  • Rating: Mature
  • Release Date: April 1, 2021

Outriders is an explosive and chaotic looter and shooter which comprises the best of the People Can Fly’s previous games. The story is different and takes a wild turn. The game had some launch day issues, but it lived up to my expectations after I finished it. If you are a fan of shooter and RPG games, this game will be perfect for you as it perfectly includes both elements. It still has that dry humour, People Can Fly is known for, specially Bulletstorm.

The satisfying mechanics of the game with a clean upgrading path and easy-to-manage elements make this game pretty balanced.

Go for it to experience the sci-fi world with a great story and feel-good shooter.

Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact
  • Publisher: miHoYo
  • Developer: miHoYo
  • Genre: Adventure, action, role-playing
  • Rating: 12+
  • Release Date: April 28, 2021

Genshin Impact is not very heavy on the story, but it encourages players to explore the fantastical world they are dropped into when they start the game. The best thing about this great game is, it’s free-to-play. The characters are beautifully designed, and the music is soothing to the ears. As you explore and level up, you fight big bosses and try to take the artistic scenery while fighting. It has a very stylistic art design to the world and its characters which feels like anime but in 3d.

The gameplay of collecting, customising, and upgrading your characters is addicting. This game makes you feel relaxed.

You will surely love the vibe of this game.

Best Games Released In May

Resident Evil Village

Resident Evil Village
  • Publisher: Capcom
  • Developer: Capcom
  • Genre: Single-player, survival horror
  • Rating: Mature
  • Release Date: May 7, 2021

Resident Evil Village was one of the most anticipated games of the year 2021. The fans of the Resident Evil series were jumping on their seats and couches when it was announced. The fans were excited about the game because when they saw the first teaser trailer, they saw that the game was sticking to the route of Resident Evil 7. This was great news for the audience, as people loved Resident Evil 7 for its first-person style gameplay and good survival horror.

I think Capcom has delivered on the hype people had about this game as it is one of the best in the series, in my opinion. Combining the first-person style of Resident Evil 7 with the beloved environment style of Resident Evil 4, this is one of the scariest games of the series. The eerie atmosphere of the game will keep you on your toes all the time.

The merchant is back, but it is not the same one from Resident Evil 4. This survival horror game will take you on the journey of Ethan, saving his daughter from a village. He has to fight against all odds, and scary monsters, to bring back his daughter from imminent danger.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Mass Effect Legendary Edition
  • Publisher: Electronic Arts
  • Developer: BioWare
  • Genre: Third-person, action, role-playing
  • Rating: Mature
  • Release Date: May 14, 2021

The Mass Effect Trilogy is an experience no gamer should miss. It is considered an influential title in the history of games. The game could be only about saving the galaxy, but BioWare made sure that the people playing the game understand the reason and heft behind every choice they make.

Many gameplay aspects, such as limited class-based weapons, were altered to make the game more satisfying and open. Some changes feel more significant than others.

Even if you have played the games before, there are still enough new changes that we can recommend you to play this game again. The game is more polished and would feel like a breath of fresh air.

Best Games Released In June

Wreckfest

Wreckfest
  • Publisher: THQ Nordic
  • Developer: Bugbear Entertainment
  • Genre: Simulation, indie, sports, vehicular combat
  • Rating: Teen
  • Release Date: June 1, 2021 (PlayStation and Switch)

Wreckfest is one of those games, which helps you enjoy, well, wrecking other cars. This game’s primary focus is to build the best car, which can drive fast and take a beating from the other cars. Most cars in this game look like they were picked up from a junkyard and spray painted to hide the rust.

It is all about driving fast and trying to wreck other cars so that you can get great highlight reels of flipping cars, debris left on the road due to the chaos, and pileups of other cars.

Good AI-controlled enemies are thinking just like you to flip your car upside down on the next turn you take. You will enjoy the ‘wreck’ in this game and the dirty paths you take to win the races.

Destroy All Humans

Destroy All Humans
  • Publisher: THQ Nordic
  • Developer: Black Forest Games
  • Genre: Action-adventure, open-world
  • Rating: Teen
  • Release Date: June 29, 2021

The original game came out in 2005, developed by Pandemic Studios (now closed). The enjoyment of zapping humans with ridiculous weapons was so much fun. Please don’t think of me as a madman. Black Forest Games made an enjoyable version of the game 15 years later, and I am all up for destroying humans again.

This is a chaotic game in which you have to play as an alien to gather data about the DNA stored in human brain cells. You are tasked with getting that information to your seniors to use the formula for cloning themselves and saving their race.

Best Games Released In July

A Plague Tale: Innocence

A Plague Tale: Innocence
  • Publisher: Focus Home Interactive
  • Developer: Asobo Studio
  • Genre: Third-person, action, role-playing
  • Rating: Mature
  • Release Date: July 6, 2021 (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and Switch)

In the middle ages, deadly plagues ravaged entire villages. Insane medical practices were done to cure humanity in those times. A Plague Tale’s version of the 14th century is deadlier than real history. The game follows the story of two individuals, a girl, and her kid brother, after the murder of their parents.

This game flew under many people’s radar just because a famous publisher did not market it. You will enjoy the journey of both brother and sister, which forces them to wade through rivers filled with blackness, inquisition soldiers, and flesh-eating rats.

This will be one of the best games, both gameplay-wise and design-wise, you can play.
