As mentioned above, GPS locates objects outside IPS, or Indoor Positioning System successfully locates objects inside a complex or large building. The location system is embedded within a specific software that everyone can use for efficient location tracing inside a building.  

Moreover, the Indoor positioning system doesn’t work on a single technology as various technologies can run indoor positioning effectively.  

Today, we will discuss a few of those technologies which make indoor positioning systems work.  

1: Proximity-based IPS system:  

Proximity-based indoor tracking systems work on low-cost-based systems which require the application of BLE or Bluetooth Low Energy and beacons. One has to install BLE points within the range of 100 feet. They also have larger battery life and can drive inaccurate results. However, one has to install multiple readers who might take the installation cost higher.  

2: Wi-Fi-based system: 

In the Wi-Fi-based indoor positioning systems, the tags or beacons are replaced with simple Wi-Fi transmitters which receive and transmit signals to diverse Wi-Fi access points within the region. In simple words, one can even use their mobile Wi-Fi to track locations or store inside a mall or a zoo.  

3: UWB System: 

UWB or Ultra-Wide Band system extends over a wider space as it has a GHz spectrum. UWB or Ultra-wideband systems also work on wireless tags, which emit a little pulse within them. They also predict accurate time measurement, which will be required to travel from one point to another.  

4: IR or Infra-Red Systems: 

Infra-red is a new technology in the Indoor positioning world that uses IR rays to calculate the distance between two points and the real-time required to cover the distance.  

All in all, Indoor positioning systems are one of those cost-effective technologies which can bring a lot of opportunities in the future.
