Lortab is an opioid pain medication that consists of a combination form of acetaminophen (paracetamol) and hydrocodone. Acetaminophen ( or Tylenol) is a less potent pain reliever that increases hydrocodone (an opioid pain drug) effects. Lortab is beneficial in treating moderate to severe pain, especially when other pain-relieving measures are not sufficient.
Many other drugs can cause dangerous side effects or death when taken with narcotic (opioid) medications. If you use any other medications, make sure your doctor is aware of this. Drugs that can interact with Lortab include:
other narcotic medications prescribed by a doctor, such as opioid pain relievers or cough medicines
medicines that make you sleepy or slow your breathing, such as a sleeping pill, muscle relaxer, sedative, tranquilizer, or antipsychotic medicine
drugs that affect the serotonin levels in your body, such as medicine for depression, migraine headaches, Parkinson’s disease, serious infections, or prevention of nausea and vomiting
