Vickers A1E1 Independent | Tank Historia

If you combined a WWI-era tank and a battleship, you'd probably end up with something like the Vickers A1E1 Independent

The British planned and produced this multi-turreted behemoth as a heavy breakthrough tank during the interwar years. You may have preconceived notions about this vehicle, such as that it was excessively huge, inefficient, difficult, and expensive, and you would be correct.

Only one was made, and it was carefully tested, demonstrating that the design was, well, not very good. More turrets did not equal better, therefore the British abandoned the concept of a land battleship.

The Independent, on the other hand, was a powerful think tank in the 1920s and 1930s, with governments all over the world likely imitating it.
