Contact lenses prevent the size distortion that happens with thick corrective lenses, which is a particular benefit when addressing problems that can only be partially repaired by prescription eyeglasses. The majority of contacts, however, cannot be worn overnight due to the elevated risk of serious corneal infections. In some circumstances, Contact Lens can be worn to preserve the corneal surface while it heals and to ease discomfort brought on by issues with the corneal surface. In order to increase flexibility, larger "soft" lenses comprised of a plastic gel that absorbs water were created. Because they let oxygen to the surface of the eye, soft contact lenses are typically comfortable.
