Record everything you do in the lab in your lab notebook. Write down the steps you took to prepare for the experiment, the steps you took to complete the experiment, and the results of the experiment. Note everything you did, including the tools you used, the procedures you followed, and anything else that might help you recall what happened.
Your Electronic Lab Notebook should be kept in a secure location where you won't lose it. Keep it in a location that will be easy to remember. Make sure to save your lab notebook to your hard drive if you're using a computer. You'll always have access to your lab notes in this manner. Whatever occurs to your machine? Yes! You can share your lab notebook with anyone as long as you give due credit to the collaborator on the experiment. Just be sure to get consent first.
