How do you organize your jeans? When they’re not on your bod, they’ve got to go somewhere. Of course, it’s safe to say that most of us keep a pair or two of jeans on “the chair” or over the bedframe. Or you might fold them and toss them in a dresser drawer without much thought. But there are definitely better ways to store your jeans, and you might even rediscover your love for your favorite jeans. The upside is once you’ve organized your jeans and created a system, you’ll be able to grab the perfect pair every time. Here are a few tips to help you organize like a pro.
Drawer or Hanger?
Is it a big deal if you fold up and toss your jeans into a drawer as opposed to sliding them on a hanger and hanging them in the closet? It can depend, and there’s nothing necessarily wrong with either. Premium denim is a resilient fabric and can hold up to different storage methods. But different storage methods can yield various, though temporary, results. Those results? Lines and creases!
If you hang your jeans on a hanger, it’s not uncommon for a line to appear halfway down the leg. It’ll usually correct itself after you wear the jeans for a little while, but if you need to be somewhere where a crease is a no-go, different storage methods may be ideal. Another thing to keep in mind is the material. Blended jeans, colored jeggings, and other similar pants often incorporate spandex into their weave. These blends can bounce back to form quicker than their pure denim counterparts.
Organize by Type
Some of us have way too many pairs of jeans, so organizing by type can make a lot of sense. That way, you don’t have to spend much time digging through your collection to find the perfect pair for the day. If you want to get really organized, you can go as far as labeling each hanger. This makes it easy to see at a glance what you’re grabbing. Going for the girlfriend jean today? Easy! Boot cut? Grab it and go. The labeling may sound like a lot of upfront effort, but once your system is up and running, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do this sooner.
Try Rolling Your Jeans
Rolling up your jeans is a great and efficient way to store them. Not only does this help reduce wrinkles and creases but it also gives you more room for more jeans or anything else you may need to store. Rolling is great for those who have an abundance of denim. Keep in mind, however, it can be a little harder to pick out what you want to wear. Unless, of course, you know your denim like the back of your hand and can pull the jeans you’re looking for out of a pile without blinking.
