What to expect during your laser skin tightening appointment

If we determine after the consultation that you are a good candidate, we will continue with the treatment. Your laser technician will start by asking a few pertinent questions about your recent health history to ensure there are no contraindications to treatment. The technician will discuss your treatment needs and at that point you can let us know specifically which areas you would like to treat. The area to be treated is cleaned and prepared for treatment. Your technician will walk you through the treatment to make sure you don't have any surprises.

While receiving laser skin tightening, you must wear safety glasses. You may still be able to see a flash of light, but your eyes will be completely covered. The laser technicians also wear safety glasses. During the treatment, all parts of the body that are not lasered are covered with clothing. Only the areas undergoing laser treatment are exposed. We are always aware of your comfort and your peace of mind; we will let you know in advance what to expect.

What to Expect After Your Laser Skin Tightening Treatment

It is normal to experience redness and swelling in the treatment area after tightening the skin with laser. This can last for several days. The treated area may feel like a shaving irritant or sunburn for several hours after the treatment. Over-the-counter hydrocortisone or aloe vera can be used to reduce redness and irritation.

Improper post-treatment care, including excessive heat or sun exposure of the treated area, can increase the likelihood of scarring, pigmentation changes, and changes in skin texture. It is imperative that you avoid excessive heat in the treatment room, such as hot tubs, saunas, or 24hours after the laser skin tightening treatment. Avoid sun exposure on the treated area and do not use UV tanning beds for two weeks after treatment.

Frequently asked questions about skin tightening with laser

Should I take time from work or my kids to recover?

No. There is no downtime or external injury to the skin. A person can return to work or reapply makeup immediately after the procedure. The entire face and neck can be treated in just forty-five minutes.

How long will the results last?

The new dermal collagen that is produced becomes part of the structure of the treated skin, so Laser Skin Tightening can cause improvements in the skin that last for years. GentleYAG skin tightening is so powerful that the production of new collagen can continue for several months aftertreatment. Most people report improvement immediately, with even more dramatic results weeks later. New growth of collagen results in continuous skin tightening and the development of a more youthful complexion with fewer lines ,folds and looseness of the skin. Continued exposure to the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays will result in the breakdown of both existing and new collagen over time, so it is very important to protect your results by limiting sun exposure, a sunblock with a high protection factor and a healthy and scientifically sound skin care regimen.

Is laser skin tightening effective for both the face and body?

Yes. Laser Skin Tightening can be used to treat any area ofthe body that can benefit from softer, smoother skin quality, wrinkle reduction, improvement in pore size and texture, or the elimination of acne scars. The GentleYAG can provide beautiful, firm skin on the face, neck, chest, upper arms, legs and other body parts without downtime and without the need for potentially dangerous anesthetic creams.

How many treatments would I need?

Clinical studies suggest that 4-6 treatments 4 weeks apart will in most cases produce a significant increase in dermal collagen, remodeling of dermal matrix components and a resulting improvement in overall skin color and vitality. It may take up to six months after your last treatment to see the full results of a laser skin tightening treatment.
