Best Movies 2022

After a year without many surprises, 2022 is a year of big releases. A new generation of moviegoers is ready to hit the theaters, and blockbusters have returned in full force - though some of them have been held back for this moment. In addition to mainstream heavy hitters, 2022 has produced a resurgence of indie filmmaking. Everything Everywhere at Once, for example, was an unexpected smash. Other films this year have thrown mainstream heavyweights for a loop, while introducing new entries from adored artists.

She Said movie

The She Said movie is an intense, emotionally powerful and affecting portrait of two investigative journalists who brought down Harvey Weinstein. Based on the book by Pulitzer Prize winners Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, this film will zoom in on their lives and the #MeToo movement. A powerful movie about women in power, She Said will be a must-see for the #MeToo movement.

Based on the book, She Said follows the investigative process that uncovered Weinstein's history of sexual misconduct. It stars Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan. The movie's success has led to the #MeToo movement and helped create a sea change in Hollywood. The movie won the Oscar and the BAFTA for Best Actress. Carey Mulligan, the author of the book, will also star in the film.

Hustle

"Hustle" is not a groundbreaking movie, but it is a solid and fun sports move. Adam Sandler plays Stanley Sugerman, a high school basketball player who suffered an injury when he was drunk. The injury prevented him from playing basketball for nine years, but it helped him save his best friend Kenny "The Jet." Though he is now married to Queen Latifah, Sugerman hasn't seen his daughter Jordan Hall for nine years. Although he is a respectable figure in Philadelphia's basketball world, he is also a bit of a jerk. He has a deep respect for Philadelphia 76ers owner Rex, and his father, Vin, who is a scout for the Philadelphia 76ers, but this admiration will cost him his son Jordan

"Hustle" is a sports comedy that features Adam Sandler, who is rarely a straight role. The film follows Stan as a basketball scout who meets and trains a young talent in Spain. Ultimately, the two must compete for a spot in the NBA draft, and it is a gritty, entertaining movie that appeals to a wide audience.

The Silence of the Lambs

The Silence of the Lambs is a psychological thriller starring Jodie Foster as psychiatrist Clarice Starling, who is hired by her client, Jack Crawford, to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a psychopath currently serving life in prison for several acts of murder and cannibalism. Crawford believes that Lecter has a clue to a pending case, and hopes that Starling can get him to open up to her.

The film is a masterwork by Jonathan Demme, which elevates true crime to prestige status. The film inspired TV shows and films like Seven, Zodiac, Criminal Minds, and Mindhunter. The movie's characters were so believable that audiences flocked to the theaters to see them. In addition to the characters in the film, the dialogue was incredibly creepy and the cinematography was stunning.

The Fallout

Megan Park makes her directorial and writing debut with The Fallout, a fictional drama about a traumatic teen experience. Vada Cavell, a sixteen-year-old girl, locks herself in a bathroom stall with two other terror-struck students. As the film progresses, she bonds with her new friends and grows apart from her family and her best friend, Nick.

While the world may be a better place than ever, grief can be a difficult thing to navigate. While 2022 has already produced several great films about the subject, there's a new movie that takes grief to another level: The Fallout. The film begins with a school shooting, following two teenage girls who hide together in a bathroom stall. As they grapple with loss, anger, and uncertainty, they form a close bond.

The Souvenir Part II

The Souvenir Part II is a terrific, empathetic character study and filmmaking thesis that is more reminiscent of a memoir than a sequel. It's one of the most compelling films of the last year, and it flew under the awards radar. Richard Ayoade, who starred in the original film, re-enacts his father's suicide, which is a touching touch.

The Souvenir Part II is more complicated and intriguing than its predecessor, but it's still an excellent film. This semi-autobiographical brace is a film about picking up the pieces after losing everything. The pacing isn't fast, but it never bored me. And it's not overly sentimental - it's a film about growing up, and that makes it all the more impressive.

Turning Red

While Pixar's new movie Turning Red has a great deal of Disney style, it also has its fair share of heart. While it's far from the best Pixar film to date, it's certainly up there as one of the best. It is currently streaming exclusively on Disney+, and there's no word yet on whether it will be released theatrically. That is to be expected considering its recent box office success.

The story is grounded in the world of middle school, but the film's female protagonists aren't entirely cynical or jaded. The narrator's character Mei is a relatable nerd with an excellent report card. She's accompanied by a tomboy skater girl named Miriam, and her two friends are deadpan and funny. Their father, Ming, strikes a balance between dictatorial and doting.
