http://www.holidayrentals.co.in - I had a great opportunity to visit Prayag, one of the ancient pilgrimage centers of India. Prayag is the ancient name of Allahabad, a city in the north Indian State, Uttar Pradesh. My family was planning for a pilgrim tour this vacation. After a long discussion our decision was to visit Prayag. We don’t have to worry about a stay in Prayag as we booked our rooms in a holiday guesthouse through the website www.holidayrentals.co.in.

About Prayag

For those who have not yet visited Prayag, I will share my experience in Prayag. Prayag is the place where the three rivers Ganga, Yamuna & Saraswati meet. According to the Hindu mythology, the point of confluence of the three rivers is considered holy. It is believed that a bath in this holy water will wash away all of one’s sins & also free from the cycle of rebirth. Prayag is also one of the sites of the historic Kumbh Mela held every 12 years. It is best to visit Prayag Triveni Sangam during the monsoon season, as we can see the confluence of the three rivers due to the force of the water. My family took boat to bathe from platforms erected in the Sangam. From a saint we met there, we also came to know that, it is here that the Lord Brahma performed Prakrista Yajna. He also told us that this was the reason why Allahabad was known as Prayag in ancient times.
