Does ScarAway work on stretch marks?

ScarAway is intended for the treatment and prevention of scars often resulting from surgeries, tummy tucks, cosmetic procedures, mole removal, injuries, burns, surgeries, accidents and more. It is not intended as a product to treat stretch marks. Everybody is different, so results can vary by person and type of scar.

While  ScarAway is intended for the treatment and prevention of scars often resulting from surgeries, tummy tucks, cosmetic procedures, mole removal, injuries, burns, and other skin damage, this product has been proven effective to reduce the appearance of stretch marks when used as directed.

The answer is yes, ScarAway is clinically proven to be effective for the treatment and prevention of both new and old scars from surgeries, tummy tucks, cosmetic procedures, injuries and burns. Stretch marks do share some scar-like characteristics. If you have new “red” stretch marks, you would want to use Silicone Gel Sheets instead. However, if your stretch marks are more mature, they may respond quite well to ScarAway silicone sheets or ScarAway C-Section Strips.

While ScarAway is not intended specifically for stretch marks, many customers have reported great results when they used it. Please make sure that you are using the product as directed. If you are not satisfied with the outcomes, please reach out to us at support@bioscarent.com and we will be more than happy to assist you further.

ScarAway silky sheet does not work on stretch marks because it doesn't follow the exact shape of a scar. However, ScarAway Gel+ is a great way to help prevent and treat your new or older stretch marks from worsening over time.

People experience unique stretch marks for a variety of reasons, including pregnancy and weight gain. Cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons at NYU Langone Medical Center say there is no way to prevent stretch marks and that although they may fade over time, they will never completely disappear. Once your skin has been stretched, it cannot go back to its original state. ScarAway is a 100% silicone gel designed to treat existing scars, relieve redness and itching associated with scars, reduce discolouration of the scar and help flatten the scar tissue. It can also help prevent hypertrophic (raised or “puffy” looking) and keloid scars from forming in the first place. Dermatologists say the sooner you start treatment on a scar after an injury or surgery, the better your results will be. A 2008 study proved ScarAway’s effectiveness at preventing hypertrophic scars after wound closure in rats. Experts maintain it is generally best to treat new scars before they have begun maturing (i.e., hardening), so that treatment can be started quickly before all wound healing has been completed. According to DermNetNZ (the New Zealand Dermatological Society's website),

Yes! ScarAway is a scientifically proven, patented silicone-based topical formulation used to soften, flatten, smooth and reduce the appearance of scars. There are many types of scars that ScarAway can treat including hypertrophic or keloid scars, as well as stretch marks.
