Tax Benefits
Employees contributions for EPF is eligible for tax exemption
under Section 80C, the interest earned is also exempt from income tax and for
withdraws after five years of continuous services are also not taxable.
Life-Long Pension
As both employer and employee contribute a share towards EPF the employer
share is diverted for Employee Pension Scheme where employee gets lifelong
pension under EPS 1995.
Insurance Benefits
The EDLI, Employees Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme from EPFO entitles
employees to get lump-sum insurance cover in event of death of insured person. Recently the insurance limit from 1.5 lakhs to 2.5 lakhs. The maximum assured benefits for an employee can benefit is upto Rs 6 Lakhs.
Premature Withdrawal
EPFO advises to look PF money just as a bank account and to reap its full
benefits by maintaining funds continuity here. Partials withdrawals can be done after 5 – 10 years for reasons like medical, home loan repayment or
unemployment issues.
Higher Returns
The investments in EPFO is bound to attract higher returns in future as EPFO
invests certain percentage its deposits in exchange traded funds.
Medical Treatment Benefits
ESI takes care of medical needs for the insured person as well as family
member.
Sickness Cash Compensation
ESI gives 70% of average daily wages in lieu of medical leave taken for any
sickness purpose, until 91 days in two benefit periods consecutively.
Maternity Benefits
ESI while taking maternity leave supports the person by 100% of average daily
wages in cash till 26 weeks in confinement and 6 week in case of miscarriage
periods and 12 weeks for commissioning and adopting mother.
Disablement Benefits
ESI helps with continuous payment monthly until the injury lasts for
temporary disablement and for whole life in case of permanent disablement.
Dependents Benefits
ESI help dependents with cash with monthly payment for them in case of death on employment injury.
Un-Employment Allowance
ESI helps with cash support to the persons with involuntary loss of employment or permanent invalidity due to non-employment injury with monthly cash allowance for a maximum of 24 months.
